NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — The estranged son of Nashville’s police chief, who was wanted in the shooting of two police officers outside a Dollar General store, has been found dead, authorities said. Officers spotted the car a short time later and followed it to the Edgehill area south of downtown, where it crashed. Drake fled to a shed behind a home and when officers surrounded the area, a gunshot was heard, Aaron said. The TBI had put Drake on its most wanted list with a reward of up to $2,500 for information leading to his arrest. Chief Drake issued a statement Saturday confirming his son was the suspect in the shooting.

A purported tweet by Nashville local news station WSMV supposedly quoting transphobic remarks made by the father of one of the Nashville school shooting victims has been fabricated. The NBC-affiliated television station told Reuters the tweet is fake. “The tweet you are referencing is fake and was never sent or shared by WSMV or any WSMV social media account. On March 27, Reuters reported that a heavily armed 28-year-old fatally shot three children and three adult staffers at a private Christian school in Nashville, Tennessee. He said the suspect identified as transgender but provided no further clarity.

A Tennessee police department was in turmoil Tuesday following allegations that at least five of its male officers had sex with a female officer both on and off the job. The officers spoke about sharing cellphone photos of their genitals, having sex in the police station on duty and taking part in “Girls Gone Wild”-type parties. NASHVILLE, Tenn. — A Grammy-winning sound engineer accused of kidnapping and threatening his wife and stepdaughter at gunpoint in Tennessee was fatally shot by police, authorities said. A Metro Nashville Police officer killed Mark Capps, 54, during an encounter Thursday at the man’s home in the Hermitage neighborhood, agency spokesman Don Aaron said. Officers had gone to the home to arrest Capps on warrants charging him with two counts each of aggravated assault and aggravated kidnapping, Aaron said. via WSMVHis 60-year-old wife and 23-year-old stepdaughter told police he had held them in the home at gunpoint early Thursday, police said. Capps’ website says he is a multi-platinum Grammy award-winning engineer/mixer/producer.
A human heart was found in Tennessee by workers making brine, prompting a law enforcement investigation to determine the organ’s origins, state officials said. Workers found the heart Thursday at a state Department of Transportation salt facility in McEwen, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation said. The probe will be conducted along with deputies with the Humphreys County Sheriff’s Office, the state bureau said. Humphreys County Sheriff Chris Davis told NBC affiliate WSMV of Nashville: “I’ve got 32 years in in law enforcement. The heart appeared to be there for a while and was dehydrated from the salt, Davis told WSMV.
"Tennessee Attorney General Jonathan Skrmetti is concerned about consumer complaints related to @Ticketmaster. He and his Consumer Protection team will use every available tool to ensure that no consumer protection laws were violated," Skrmetti's office said in a tweet Wednesday. “If it’s a consumer protection violation and we can find exactly where the problems are, we can get a court order that makes the company do better. The attorney general said he also had concerns about Ticketmaster profiting twice off ticket sales, with the website also facilitating ticket resales. “There is an incentive there for the company to profit twice off the sale of these ticket,” he said, according to WSMV.
